2010 Arbor Day Tree Sale

The annual Coon Rapids Arbor Day Tree Sale assists residents in acquiring a tree at a nominal fee for their property from a selection of bareroot nursery stock pre-ordered through our Forestry Division. The trees are then delivered and picked up by residents. The Arbor Day sale for 2010 is over.

Orders are accepted on a first call/first serve basis with a limit of two trees per Coon Rapids household. To place an order or for further questions, please contact City Forester Tom Schibilla at 763-767-6455.

The City does not assume responsibility for the successful transplanting of trees. Weather conditions, methods of handling, and aftercare govern the results. Trees are sold with the understanding that if they arrive in good condition and are accepted, the City's responsibility ceases. There are no refunds or replacements on trees that fail.

Below is a listing of available tree selections. (All prices include sales tax.)

Japanese Tree Lilac - This tree forms showy creamy-white blooms after most of the shrub forms of Lilac are done. It is also resistant to disease and insect pests. Oval shaped crown. Height 20-25', Spread 15-25'

Prairie Fire Flowering Crab - Probably the truest red flowering crabapple. Upright in growth, but becoming rounded with age. A little later blooming than most crabs. Its glossy red bark adds to the appeal of this tree. Height/Spread 15'/20'.

Shademaster Honeylocust - A fast-growing shade tree, Honeylocust grows in a variety of soils and is tolerant to most city conditions. It has a fine-textured foliage canopy that produces light filtered shade. Shademaster is a seedless selection with wide spreading branching and a broad symetrical crown. This tree also has a nice golden yellow fall color. Height 30-50', Spread 30-35'

Autumn Blaze Maple - This is a fast growing hybrid of Red and Silver Maple and combines the best features of both species. Autumn Blaze has an ascending branch habit and striking orange-red to red fall color. Height 40-60', Spread 40'

Accolade Elm - Accolade is a new hybrid of elm resistant to Dutch Elm Disease. This tree was developed in Canada and bears the same vase-shaped growth habit typical of the American Elm often seen on city boulevards. Height 50-70', Spread 40-50'
