July 4th Community Celebration - 2015


Join the Independence Day celebration in a new location this year!

The Fourth of July Community Celebration is moving from Sand Creek Park to the grounds of the Coon Rapids Ice Center, located at 11000 Crooked Lake Boulevard. Don’t miss your chance to be a part of this fun Coon Rapids tradition! Community events include a carnival, parade, fireworks, bingo, pull tabs and other fun activities. This event is sponsored by the North Star Lions Club, the Coon Rapids Fire Social Group and the Coon Rapids Community Strength Foundation.

Parade Entries Accepted until June 15

The parade has a new route this year. It will start on Mississippi Boulevard near Anoka-Ramsey Community College, then travel east on 109th Lane, south on Flora Street, west on Direct River and north on Mississippi Boulevard where it will end near the college. The parade, which will take place on the evening of Thursday, July 2, is organized by the North Star Lions Club. Registration is now open. Please read and fill out the forms below.

Parade and Event Parking
Public parking is available in the parking lots at Anoka-Ramsey Community College. Other nearby businesses may offer their parking lots for additional public parking as well. Roads along the parade route and near the parade will be closed to traffic from approximately 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on the evening of July 2nd. No parking areas will be well-marked.

Fireworks Information
The fireworks will be even bigger and better than ever this year on July 4! More aerial displays will be incorporated into the show, making the fireworks viewable from a larger distance. The fireworks launch site itself, located across the street from Anoka-Ramsey Community College, will be closed off from the public on July 4. Spectators are welcome to view the fireworks from the event grounds near the Coon Rapids Ice Center.

Thursday, July 2

8 a.m.                   Concession stand opens (breakfast served until 11 a.m.*)
6 p.m.                   Parade
Following parade  Midway, bingo and pull tabs open
7– 10:30 p.m.        Live music: “Night Louie” (Classic rock)                          
11 p.m.                 Midway closes

Friday, July 3
8 a.m.                 Concession stand opens (breakfast served until 11 a.m.*)
Noon                   Midway, bingo and pull tabs open
5-11 p.m.           “Car Show to Remember”- Hot Rods & Classics (Gate fee $5.00 donation proceeds ACBC Food Shelf)
7-10:30 p.m.        Live music: “Copperhead Creek” (Country)  
Midnight              Midway closes

Saturday, July 4
8 a.m.                  Concession stand opens (breakfast served until 11 a.m.*)
Noon                   Midway, bingo and pull tabs open
12:30 p.m.           Bean Bag Tournament – walk-up registration. Play begins at 1:30 p.m.**
7-10:30  p.m.       Live music: “Shag” (Contemporary)
10 p.m.                Fireworks
Midnight              Midway Closes

*Concession stand, operated by the North Star Lions Club, remains open throughout the day and evening serving pulled pork sandwiches, hamburgers, walking tacos, hot dogs and more.
