Fleet and Facilities Division

Over 250 units are included in the City’s fleet of motorized vehicles, which include snowplows, police and fire vehicles and other tractors and trucks .  Fleet maintenance is performed and recorded at the Public Works facility by a staff of 5 mechanics and one clerical employee. Fleet units are replaced regularly according to the Fleet Replacement Schedule which outlines specific replacement intervals based on the normal utilization and anticipated service life of the equipment. Most equipment is retained for between 8 and 10 years before replacement is considered.

Equipment maintenance, fuel and parts inventories are tracked and recorded using a Vehicle Maintenance computerized software system with mechanics entering information directly into the system via computers and laptops on the shop floor.

Facility maintenance of City Hall, 3 Fire Stations and the Public Works facility is accomplished with one full time building technician, contract vendors are used for routine janitorial, electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems.

Both the Fleet and Facilities divisions are supervised by one full time Supervisor.
