Water & Sewer Rates

Fee Structure Changes
The city has adopted a new fee structure for sewer charges for single family residences. It has changed from a flat fee to a combination base fee plus a consumption fee.

Base Fee & Consumption Fee
The base fee covers fixed costs of sewer lines and lift stations. The consumption fee is based on the winter quarter (or less) water use. Typically during the winter months, all water used goes into the sewer system. The consumption portion of the charge is directed to the Metropolitan Council who is responsible for treating waste water.

Fee Implementation
Some single family property owners will see an increase in their sewer charges and other property owners will see a decrease in their bills. This rate system has been implemented for other property types over the past 2 years.

Water, Sewer & Storm Drain Rates
These rates are in effect as of the May 1, 2015 bill. Residential water bills for have a base fee of $16 per account.
