Crime Mapping

In January 2013, the Coon Rapids Police Department began a crime mapping and crime analysis project. Using technology by BAIR Analytics, some crime data is made public using their mapping program, available free on the Internet and via mobile apps for iPhone and iPad.

NOTE: As we transition to our new records management system we are experiencing a delay in crimes being mapped. Please bear with us as we make this improvement.

The data that we are providing in the mapping program is only Felony level FBI UCR Part I offenses with the exception of sex crimes. The crimes we are publicly mapping currently are:
  • Aggravated (Felony) Assault
  • Aggravated Robbery
  • Arson
  • Burglary - Commercial
  • Burglary - Residential
  • Homicide
  • Theft (Felony)
  • Vehicle Theft
The Coon Rapids Police Department was dispatched to 38,164 radio calls in 2014, resulting in 33,492 police reports. It would be overwhelming to map each of these incidents and the FBI UCR Part II and Part III, IV & V offense categories.

Coon Rapids citizens can view a map and grid with all of the crimes in their area and sign up for neighborhood watch reports that automatically email a breakdown of recent crime activity. RAIDS Online automatically syncs with the Coon Rapids Police Department’s records system to keep crime information updated online and in the mobile app. RAIDS Online cleans and geocodes the crime data, then displays all of the incidents on a map along with some basic information about the incidents including:
  • Block-level address
  • Date
  • Location type
  • Time
  • Type of crime
