Bartlett Lake Home Remodel

Improving Life on the Lake

The Bartletts always dreamed of living on the lake. When they found a home for sale on Crooked Lake in Coon Rapids, the land was just what they were looking for, but not the house. They weren’t afraid of remodeling and the Home for Generations II program helped.

"We Googled Coon Rapids house remodel and the Home for Generations program came up. We read about the program and the opportunity it provided, which helped us feel secure in our remodeling plans,” Zach Bartlett says.

The Bartletts tore down an old detached garage and re-built an attached three stall garage with a future bonus room above. They also removed walls, eliminating a dining room to open up the living space. An extensive kitchen remodel included custom cabinetry, countertops and hardwood floors.

The Bartletts opened their home to the public as part of the 2016 Coon Rapids Home Remodeling Tour. Dozens of people toured the remodeled space to get ideas for their own home improvement projects.

"We're happy to give back. I mean it's such a unique and cool program that we're happy to be part of the showcase,” says Bartlett.

The Home for Generations II program provides grant money for large remodeling projects such as removing or relocating walls, complete kitchen and bathroom remodels, adding an addition or other major enhancements.
